Review on Extreme Value Prediction of Measured Ice Loads for Arctic Ships
For ships in the arctic, ice loads represent the dominant load which cause the damage of ship structures. The principles of measurements to obtain the line loads and ice pressure are explained in detail.Based on the collected ice loads, the methodologies to predict the short-term extreme ice loads and the long-term extreme ice loads are systematically described.Prediction of the extreme ice loads is crucial for the safety evaluation of ship structures, therefore, the research trends as well as the critical issues of the technologies for extreme ice loads prediction are discussed. The study result could provide valuable guidance and reference for the structural safety of arctic ships.
