Simulation and Application of Rotary Vane Compressors on Marine LNG Fuel System
A new rotary vane compressor type, which has been installed on several ships in recent years,is studied in depth, and its structural feature and working principle are introduced. The advantages and limitations on marine liquefied natural gas(LNG)fuel system of this kind compressor compared to conventional compressors are also shown. The establishments of approximate mathematical model are presented using professional simulation software.Compared with the experimental data supplied by Manufacturer, the simulated method is proven to be available, which means solving the preexisting issue of a difficult quantitative analysis and calculations of LNG fuel systems due to the compressor's special structure. The research results have a good effect in ship engineering applications using green low carbon fuels, such as LNG,ammonia and hydrogen.
