Basketball is a popular sport among higher vocational college students. Situational teaching method makes students fully integrate into basketball classroom by creating teaching scenes, which has important value in improving the effect of basketball teaching and training students' physical and mental quality in higher vocational colleges. On the basis of studying the application value and method of situational teaching method in basketball teaching in higher vocational colleges, this paper studies the application strategy of situational teaching method in basketball teaching in higher vocational colleges so as to improve the effect of basketball teaching in higher vocational colleges and improve students' basketball accomplishment and physical quality.
