In the context of rural revitalization,promoting the green transformation of agriculture is not on-ly an important element of the "agriculture,rural areas and farmers",but also a timely move to solve the problem of environmental pollution control. Influenced by the urban-rural dual economic mechanism,the rural young and middle-aged population of China has become the norm,and the empty nest smallholder farmers have become the important main body of agricultural production and management. In view of this,the article is located in the empty nest smallholder farmers perspective,in-depth analysis of its participation in green agricultural production of the intrinsic motivation and exogenous mechanism,in order to propose the corresponding optimization path with a focus on the motivation mechanism system of the farmers' be-havior,so as to promote the smallholder farmers to actively participate in the green agricultural production,and accelerate the construction of a strong agricultural country.
