Review of research on epidemic disease prevention and treatment with traditional Chinese medicine in N ortheast China in the period of the Republic of China
Epidemic diseases frequently broke out in Northeast China during the period of the Republic of China.By consulting newspapers,magazines,archives and other relevant historical materials,this paper reviews and summarizes the experience of epidemic disease prevention and treatment in this period,in order to offer some references for the prevention and treatment of epidemic diseases with traditional Chinese medicine.During the period of epidemic diseases,practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine in Northeastern China inherited ancient approaches,formulated special prescriptions,and administrated both acupunctures and medicines to prevent and control epidemic diseases.They attached attention to the influence of the six climatic factors and constitution,with an emphasis on consolidating vital qi and stimulating self-healing.They also paid attention to the post-disease care and prevention,and integrated the western medicine theory with the traditional Chinese medicine thinking.Chinese medicine played an important role in the prevention and treatment of epidemic diseases at that period.Reviewing and summarizing the experience in epidemic disease prevention and treatment in the early period has important reference significance in the prevention and treatmetn of epidemic diseases with traditional Chinese medicine.
