Therapeutic efficacy of Xingshen Jieyu Decoction combined with acupuncture on post-stroke depression in elderly patients and its effect on serum serotonin and norepinephrine
Objective To explore the therapeutic efficacy of Xingshen Jieyu Decoction combined with acupuncture on elderly patients with post-stroke depression and the effect on serum serotonin(5-HT)and norepinephrine(NE).Methods A total of 96 elderly patients with post-stroke depression admitted to Qingdao Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to April 2021 were selected and divided into the control group and the study group according to random number table method,with 48 cases in each group.Both groups received the basic treatment.On the basis of this treatment,the control group received escitalopram oxalate tablets,and the study group received Xingshen Jieyu Decoction combined with acupuncture treatment.The traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores,Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores,and clinical efficacy were compared between two groups before and after treatment.The serum 5-HT and NE levels before and after treatment were compared between two groups.The safety of two groups during treatment was compared.Results After treatment,the scores of primary and secondary symptoms and total scores of two groups decreased(P＜0.05).After treatment,the scores of primary and secondary symptoms and total scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group(P＜0.05).Compared with before treatment,the HAMD scores and NIHSS scores of two groups decreased after treatment(P＜0.05),and the HAMD scores and NIHSS scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group after treatment(P＜0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the distribution of clinical effects between two groups(P＜0.05),and the total effective rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Compared with before treatment,serum 5-HT and NE levels in two groups increased after treatment,and the study group was higher than the control group(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in adverse reactions between two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Xingshen Jieyu Decoction combined with acupuncture can alleviate the clinical symptoms of the elderly patients with post-stroke depression,effectively reduce the symptoms of depression and scores for neurological deficits,improve the clinical efficacy,and regulate the levels of serum monoamine neurotransmitters.This therapy is safe and reliable.
