Through the investigation of ancient books and the sorting of modern research achievements of traditional Chinese medicine,combined with the understanding and application experience of famous experts and scholars in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine clinical medicine and science of Chinese materia medica,it is concluded that desertliving cistanche mainly has the effects of invigorating kidney yang,tonifying essence and blood,and smoothing intestine and relieving constipation.The symptom targets are constipation and impotence.Modern pharmacology studies have found that desertliving cistanche and its active components have the effects of regulating intestinal microbiota,promoting defecation,improving reproductive function,promoting androgen secretion,anti-oxidation,anti-aging,anti-osteoporosis,lowering blood sugar and lipids levels,anti-inflammatory and so on.Existing experimental data show that desertliving cistanche is non-toxic or low toxic substance.People with hyperactivity of fire due to yin deficiency and loose stools should not take it.And people with excessive heat in the gastrointestinal tract or heat accumulation of large intestine and constipation should avoid using it.The clinical dosage is 6-60g.When taken orally,it should be used according to syndrome differentiation of different diseases or different stages of the same disease,and the construction of dose-effect relationship between the dosage of desertliving cistanche and the symptom target should be explored actively.
