Reconstruction of Chinese materia medica-coix seed
Through investigation of ancient books and the sorting of the modern research achievements of traditional Chinese medicine,combined with the understanding and application experience of well-known experts and scholars in desciplinary fields such as traditional Chinese medicine clinical medicine and science of Chinese materia medica,it is concluded that coix seed mainly has the effects of invigorating spleen for eliminating dampness,clearing heat and removing toxicity,and detumescence and discharging pus.The symptom targets are diarrhea,joint pain,suppuration,acne,and edema.The biochemical indicator targets are gastric ulcers,gastrointestinal masses,and urinary tract infections.Modem pharmacological studies have found that coix seed and its active ingredients have hypoglycemic,lipid lowing,anthydropic,anti-tumor,antiulcer,anti-diarrhoeal,anti-inflammatory and analgesic,antioxidant,and immunoregulatory effects.Coix seed belongs to the homology of medicine and food,with generally low toxicity.The clinical dosage is 10-120g.When taken orally,it should be used dialectically according to different diseases or different stages of the same disease,and the construction of dose-effect relationship between the dosage of coix seed and the symptom target and biochemical indicator target should be explored actively.
