Zhang Zhen's experience in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus with the thought of regulating qi movement
Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)is an autoimmune disease that involves multiple systems throughout the body, and can be classified under the category of"yin-yang poisoning"in traditional Chinese medicine.Professor Zhang Zhen,a master of traditional Chinese medicine, believed that SLE was a syndrome of deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality, and the etiology and pathogenesis of SLE were based on liver, spleen and kidney deficiency, with toxin stasis blood and vessels as the standard.Professor Zhang believed that SLE patients generally had emotional disorders and should be treated both physically and mentally simultaneously.Professor Zhang proposed academic idea of"regulating qi movement, and using liver as the main body and spleen and kidney as the wings",and used self-formulated Shutiao Shengxue Tang to treat SLE,and his treatment method focused on dispersing stagnated liver qi,and invigorating the spleen and kidney, supplemented by detoxication, removing blood stasis, and production of blood. The results of modern pharmacological research suggest that this prescription has anti-inflammatory,immune regulation and promoting platelet regeneration effects, and can regulate the relevant biological processes of the development of SLE from various aspects, thereby improving SLE symptoms and inhibiting the progression of SLE.This therapy can be promoted and applied in clinical practice.
