Clinical efficacy of joint mobilization combined with acupuncture in the treatment of temporomandibular joint disturbance syndrome
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of joint mobilization combined with acupuncture in the treatment of temporomandibular joint disturbance syndrome(TMJDS).Methods 144 patients with TMJDS were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method. The control group received simple acupuncture treatment, while the observation group received joint mobilization for 4 weeks on the basis of the treatment of acupuncture treatment.Oral Health Impact Profile(OHIP-14)scores,international commonly used Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores, maximum mouth opening degree,Chinese version of Mandibular Function Impairment Questionnaire(MFIQ)scores, and Fricton temporomandibular disorder index in two groups were compared. The clinical efficacy and safety of two groups were compared. Results After treatment,OHIP-14 score,VAS score,MFIQ score, dysfunction index(DI),palpation index(PI),and Craniomandibular Index(CMI)of both groups decreased(P<0.05),and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the maximum mouth opening degree of both groups increased(P<0.05),and the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05);The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05);Both groups did not experience any treatment-related adverse events. Conclusion Joint mobilization combined with acupuncture can improve pain and temporomandibular functional activity in patients with TMJDS,and increase maximum mouth opening degree. This therapy has significant therapeutic effects.
