Chronic insomnia disorder is a common clinical disorder that seriously affects the quality of life of the patients.Acupuncture and moxibustion have been proven to improve the sleep quality of patients with insomnia disorders, but the mechanisms are still unclear.Brain imaging studies have shown that patients with chronic insomnia disorders exhibit specific changes in functional connectivity within the brain networks, especially reflected in the internal connections of the four brain networks of default mode network(DMN),salience network(SN),cognitive control network(CCN),and negative emotion network(NEN),as well as the connections between the networks of these four brain networks. This provides a new entry point for exploring the neural mechanisms of acupuncture and moxibustion on the brain network. This review summarizes the characteristics of changes in brain network connectivity of chronic insomnia with disorders and the changes in brain network connectivity caused by acupuncture and moxibustion intervention,so as to provide theoretical basis for further exploring the potential mechanisms of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of chronic insomnia disorder.
