Clinical efficacy of nourishing yin and transporting the spleen in the treatment of Sjogren's Syndrome
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of nourishing yin and transporting the spleen combined with Western medicine in the treatment of Sjogren's Syndrome and its influence on inflammatory factors and immune function of patients. Methods 80 patients with Sjogren's Syndrome were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Western medicine, while the observation group was treated with nourishing yin and transporting the spleen formula and traditional Chinese medicine on the basis of the treatment of Western medicine. The levels of indexes of exocrine gland,immunoglobulin,complement,interferon-α(IFN-α)and B cell activating factor of the TNF family(BAFF),and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)were detected in two groups. The changes in Essential Self-Sensory Perception Rating Index(ESSPRI),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score, and European League Against Rheumatism Sjogren's Syndrome Disease Activity Index(ESSDAI)of two groups were evaluated. Results Compared with before treatment, the salivary flow rate, unstimulated salivary flow rate and left-side tear/right-side tear secretion in two groups were significantly increased after 12 weeks of treatment, and the levels of relevant exocrine gland indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group after 12 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).Compared with before treatment, the levels of IgA,IgM,IgG and IFN-α,and ESR in two groups significantly decreased. After 12 weeks of treatment, except for IgM level, the levels of all other indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment, the levels of C3 and C4 significantly increased in two groups. After 12 weeks of treatment, the C3 level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment, the ESSRI score,TCM syndrome score, and ESSDAI score significantly decreased in both groups, and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Nourishing yin and transporting the spleen combined with Western medicine can alleviate the symptoms, inhibit the expression of inflammatory factors, and improve the immune function and exocrine gland function in patients with Sjogren's Syndrome.
