Professor Hou Aihua believes that the etiology and pathogenesis of colorectal cancer are the combination of deficiency of vital qi and dampness,turbidity,stasis,and toxin.Professor Hou proposes the theory of"deficiency,turbidity,stasis and toxin",and believes that the key to its pathogenesis is the stage state of dampness,turbidity,and blood stasis.During clinical practice,attention should be paid to regulating the relationship of qi,blood,yin and yang between the intestines,liver,spleen,and kidney;And based on the principle of strengthening vital qi to eliminate pathogenic factor,according to the different pathogenesis of zang fu viscera of patient,classic formulas such as Buzhong Yiqi Decoction,Jingui Shenqi Pill,and Yiguan Decoction are selected to treat deficiency syndrome with tonifying method and strengthening vital qi,activate their own anti-cancer factors,and promote the elimination of pathological products such as phlegm,turbidity,stasis,and toxin.When treating turbidity,stasis,and toxin pattern,treatment should not be confined to conventional methods.But based on the state of dampness,turbidity,and blood stasis,the methods of strengthening Yang for diuresis,and promoting the original source of fluid movement in the body,and regulating and smoothing the Qi flow in the zang fu viscera should be used to resolve turbidity and remove dampness;The use of methods such as promoting blood circulation,blood-breaking and blood dissemination,and promoting saliva production to moisten the intestines for defecation can help with blood circulation;The use of wind medicine again enhances yang qi in the body,which transports nutrients to the heart and lungs through the spleen,and transforms into qi and blood to nourish the whole body,and eliminates hiding evil.
