Discussion on research progress in traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of endometriosis from the perspective of mechanism of endometrial cell adhesion
Endometriosis(EMs)is a common progressive and estrogen-dependent disease in gynecology, which is one of the important causes of dysmenorrhea and infertility in women of childbearing age.The pathogenesis of EMs has not yet been uniformly understood in the academic fied currently. In recent years, the mainstream view has been that endometrial cell adhesion, invasion and proliferation and neovascularization in ectopic tissues are involved in the occurrence and development of EMs.Urokinase type plasminogen activator(uPA),matrix metalloproteinase(MMPs),and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)are key factors in endometrial cell adhesion.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)can treat EMs through multi-target,multi-link and multi-pathway,and this therapy has achieved remarkable results, especially in the treatment targeting key factors in the adhesion process of endometrial cell, which has significantly improved the prognosis of patients and enhanced the clinical efficacy, and may open up a new way and provide new treatment ideas for EMs treatment in the future.
