Triassic marine reptile fossils and their stratigraphical distribution in China
The marine reptile fossils and their occurrence stractigraphical horizons in China are systematically summarized on the basis of practical materials in this paper. They are divided into four relative faunas as follows. The Early Triassic Nanzhang marine reptile fauna, the Middle Triassic Xingyi marine reptile fauna, the Late Triassic Guanling marine reptile fauna, and the Late Triassic Dingri marine reptile fauna. On the basis of studying, the marine reptile fossils in China have the vast quantity, multiple species and good reservation. Particularly, the Triassic Guanling fauna of Guizhou have vast quantity and good reservation and priority to burial fossils in situ, and may be the first class in the world. The geohistory distribution of the Triassic marine reptile fossils over China is from the Early Triassic Olenekian to the Late Triassic Norian. The geographical distribution of the marine reptile fossils over China is mainly distributed over Paleo-Eastern Tethys, showing a regional feature.
