Hydrogeologic and Engineering Geologic Characteristics of Longhuai Potassium-Magnesium Salt Mine on Vientiane Plain in Laos
Longhuai Potassium-Magnesium Salt Mine on Vientiane Plain is located on the northern edge of Korat Basin and the lowland of Vientiane Plain in the southwest of Laos. The overall topogra-phy of the area is high in the north and low in the south, tilting from east to west, with low hills de-veloping in the area, and the Mekong River is a large-scale surface water in the area. The minerals in the area are mainly potassium and magnesium salts, and the potassium and magnesium salts are mainly deposited in the lower section of the Tagong Formation(E1tg1-1),which is a sub-section of anhydrite.Through the analysis of hydrogeological and engineering geological features of Longhuai potassium-magnesium salt mine, combined with the geological background of the mine and pumping test data, the study classifies the types of hydrogeological conditions of the deposit and the types of engineering geological conditions, estimates the amount of sudden water in the future pits, evaluates the engineering geology of the mine, then puts forward the mining geological environmental problems that may arise from the mining of the deposit, which provides a basis for further work and safe min-ing in the future.
