In order to improve hay yield and palatability, the seed of Chamaecrista rotundifolia‘Minyin'was treated with radiation-induced mutations and Chamaecrista rotundifolia ‘Minyu 2' was selected and registered by the Chinese Herbage Cultivar Registration Board (CHCRB) in 2012.Variety comparison trial, regional and field trials were conducted from 2005 to 2011.Results showed that the hay yield of ‘Minyu 2' was 11000 to 14000 kg · hm-2 and the seed yield was 230 to 270 kg · hm-2 which were 18.31%and 6.38 % higher than those of cultivar ‘ Minyu',respectively. Therefore,‘ Minyu 2' was an important aluminum-tolerance variety and was adapted to plant in tropical and sub-tropical regions such as Fujian and Guangdong provinces.
