Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Inoculation Methods on the Growth and Physiology of Verbena bonariensis Seedlings
To investigate the effects of different AMF and inoculation methods on the growth and physiological characteristics of Verbena bonariensis seedlings. We studied four AMF,Claroideoglomus etunicatum(Ce),Rhizophagus irregularis(Rir),Rhizophagus intraradices(Ri),Funneliformis mosseae(Fm)and two methods of inoculation(A D inoculation method involved thorough mixing of inoculum, sand, vermiculite and filling trays with this mixture, and a H inoculation method,in which vermiculite was filled to 2/3 of the tray,inocu-lated with inoculum and sand, and then covered it with vermiculite)on the growth and physiological indicators of Verbena bonariensis seedlings through tray cultivation experiments. The results showed that the mycorrhizal infection rate, infection density and arbuscule abundance of Verbena bonariensis inoculated with Ce were signifi-cantly higher than those of the other AMF.The plant height, total biomass, underground biomass,photo-chemical reflectance index and mycorrhizal dependence of Ce under the H inoculation method were significantly higher than those under the D inoculation method.Correlation analysis showed that mycorrhizal infection rate, infection density and arbuscule abundance were significantly positively correlated with plant height, total bio-mass and underground biomass.AMF strains and inoculation methods significantly affected the growth and physiological indicators of plants. The Ce effect under the H inoculation method was better than the others. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the application of AMF in Verbena bonariensis seedling cultivation and other aspects.
