Current status and capacity building of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in grassroots hospitals in Nanchong City
Objective:To investigate the current status of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in grassroots hospitals in Nanchong City and provide suggestions for their capacity building,in order to promote standardized diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and improve patients'prognosis.Methods:A survey questionnaire was designed based on the guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.A total of 65 doctors engaged in lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in 7 county-level hospitals in Nanchong City were investigated to understand their understanding and practice of standardized diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.Training on standardized diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer was conducted and the effectiveness of the training was evaluated.Results:The overall understanding of standardized diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer among doctors in grassroots hospitals in Nanchong City was acceptable,but there were also shortcomings.After the training,the scores of primary hospital doctors in clinical manifestations,diagnosis and staging,genetic and PD-L1 testing,and treatment plans for lung cancer were higher than those before the training(P<0.05).The main reasons for lung cancer patients not completing testing and treatment were the lack of medical resources and cost limitations.Conclusion:The standardized diagnosis and treatment level of lung cancer in some grassroots hospitals in Nanchong City needs to be improved.Regularly conducting standardized training on diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer,strengthening mutual cooperation between regional hospitals,increasing medical investment,can help improve the diagnosis and treatment capabilities of grassroots hospitals for lung cancer and improve patients'prognosis.
