Construction of the Historical Value Evaluation System on Fragmented Historical Districts from the Perspective of"Locality":Taking Funing Ancient City Historical and Cultural District in Fujian Province as an Example
With the rapid advancement of China's early urbanization process,a considerable portion of historical neighborhoods have exhibited fragmented characteristics due to a lack of protection. With the continuous advancement of the current old city renewal, compared to the research on historical blocks with rich cultural relics and concentrated traditional styles, how to reasonably evaluate the value of those historical blocks with"fragmented"characteristics, explore their unique characteristics, and achieve effective protection and renewal utilization has become an important practical issue.Based on the theme theory of"locality"in cultural geography research, this paper constructs the conceptual framework and index system of historical value evaluation of fragmented historic districts, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis from the four aspects, including historical evolution, regional characteristics, regional image, and human-land relationship. Then,in order to promote the formation of"local sense"and enhance"local identity",this paper proposes key points for block protection and renewal and combines the planning practice of Funing Ancient City Historical and Cultural Block in Xiapu County,Fujian Province, for a case study, hoping to inspire the protection and renewal modes of similar types of fragmented historical districts.
