Transcending Segmentation:An Interpretation and Analysis of Lefebvre's"Triadic Dialectics of Space"
The Production of Space is a book about contemporary"spatial pathology",pointing to the contradictions and problems of capitalist space. It criticizes the metaphysics and mechanism of space, criticizes the fragmented knowledge system, and believes that it is necessary to look at and understand the existing problems from a comprehensive and dialectical perspective.Lefebvre constructed the Triadic Dialectic of Space to describe social spatial production to address the aforementioned issues."Social space""socialization of production"and"the Triadic Dialectic of Space"are the core elements of this book. This paper explores the relationship between Lefebvre's theory of spatial production and the theories of Hegel,Marx, and Nietzsche and analyzes the connotation of Lefebvre's triadic composition of social space and the corresponding conceptual clusters. It argues that for urban planning and architecture disciplines,it is necessary to melt boundaries and transcend boundaries, combine scientificization, idealization, and a return to vibrant daily life, which in turn implies a possible disciplinary transformation of the urban planning and architecture discipline.
