Evolution of Spatial Structure of Port-Centered Region in Context of New Maritime Economy:Hierarchical Logic and Policy Implications
This paper aims to propose a new framework to understand how the current spatial structure of port-centered regions is affected by the macro-maritimes economy changes. The new changes in the global trade landscape, circulation forms, shipping route patterns, and regulations were illustrated, and the concept of a"new maritime economy"was summarized and proposed.Combining the multiple cases in China or abroad, the paths of ports to achieve diversification of functions, specification and intensification of space, and three-dimensional utilization were analyzed. The ways for ports to engage in multimodal transportation and the trend of applying intelligent and green transformation were also analyzed, thus summarizing the evolution of the regional spatial structure of ports. In addition, the evolution of the spatial structure of port-centered regions in the context of the new shipping economy was described, with a view to providing insights for urban planning to correctly understand the evolution of port functions, deal with the relationship between port, industry, and city, plan for the land-sea intersection zone, and push forward the land-sea coordination, among other key issues.
