Research on the Evolution of Modern Urban Morphology in Gulou District of Nanjing from the Syntactic Perspective
Taking the road network in Gulou District of Nan-jing city as the research object,we try to reveal the evolution process of urban morphology in Gulou District from 1909 to 2020 based on GIS and the approach of spatial syntax theory from three aspects,urban morphological evolution characteris-tics,part-whole synergy analysis and the evolution of Gulou District Center. The results show that:First,social changes can reshape the urban spatial form,and the road network in Gulou District has undergone three stages (centralized com-pact growth,spreading-type expansion and outlying expan-sion). Second,the coordination degree of Gulou District shows a downward trend in the construction process,and the perception of part space to the whole space becomes weak.Third,the center of Gulou District remains consistent with the direction of urban spatial form expansion. The study at-tempts to analyze the spatial morphology evolution process of urban from the perspective of road network evolution to in-form the urban development and conservation of the old city in Gulou District.
