The Research on the Method of Determining the DEM Appropriate Resolution Reference Value Based on the Contour Cutting Lines
Resolution is an important parameter when contour data converts to grid DEM data.Suitable resolution can not only hold contour elevation information, but also reduce interpolation data redundancy and error. This paper put forward a concept of contour cutting line.Based on the understanding of the generating process of grid DEM,a suitable grid resolution reference value could be made by analyzing contour cutting frequency statistics. It was helpful auxiliary while determining the appropriate grid resolution reference value to use standard length which was the multiplying value of contour cutting line length and frequency, and density analysis picture which was made by contour cutting line geometrical center points. The research was based on theoretical basis and experiment, and it was consistent with the relevant research of other scholars, but simple and strong-measurable to determine the appropriate grid resolution reference value.
