Log Evaluation Method and Application of Shale Oil Reservoir in Bongor Basin
The evaluation of the main shale oil reservoir in the Baobab block of the Bongor basin, Chad, is insufficient, and a comprehensive method for shale oil resource evaluation is urgently needed. In order to comprehensively analyze the characteristics of shale oil reservoirs, logging, mud logging, and core analysis data from the Bongor basin were collected and sorted, and key parameters such as total organic carbon content, porosity, water saturation, and brittleness index are studied. Advanced technologies such as core calibration logging and numerical simulation are fully utilized to establish targeted shale oil and gas evaluation methods. The actual application shows that the evaluation method established in this study significantly improved the exploration efficiency and successfully evaluated the high organic matter content, good physical properties, and easily fractured shale oil reservoirs in the Baobab structural belt of the Bongor basin. The test results are highly consistent with the interpretation of logging data, verifying the accuracy and reliability of the evaluation method. This study provides strong support for the exploration and development of shale oil in the Bongor basin, also provides valuable experience for the exploration and development of similar areas.
