Population Management of Women with Disabilities Between the Han and Tang Dynasties
In recent years,the continuous emergence of new unearthed literature materials provides new possibilities for the study of the household registration problem of people with disabilities including women in the ancient period.In the Han Dynasty,"ba long"population,as a social identity,gradually appeared in household registration documents.Although there are few available materials recording females with disabilities,it can also be seen that the trend of close relationship between the production of household registration and the tax and corvee system for women with disabilities in ancient China.During the Wei and Jin Dynasties,there were a large number of"female households"in Wu Bamboo Slips at Zoumalou,indicating the formal identity establishment of women with disabilities,and the annotation format became more detailed.In the Tang Dynasty,the state had a stricter management of the grass-roots social population,including the"Three Disabilities".In addition to recording the types of disability,the degree of disability also became an important part.In general,the statistics and management of the population of women with disabilities between the Han and Tang Dynasties were intended to support the implementation of the tax system for the country under the household registration system.The continuous collation of the information of persons with disabilities in household registration documents is expected to promote the quantitative statistical analyses of persons with disabilities including women in ancient China.
