Shaping the Ideal Personality of Individuals with Disabilities:From the Perspective Combining Self-education and Broadly Defined Productive Labor of Persons with Disabilities
The educational value orientation,based on the integration of education and productive labor,is a key part of Marxist view on education,as well as an important component facilitating the shaping of an ideal personality and all-round development of individuals.Individuals with disabilities should likewise integrate self-awareness and self-improvement into their self-education based on the universal care and institutional support within society,combined with productive labor.The productive labor engaged by individuals with disabilities,due to its unique nature,is broadly defined in this article to include the production of intangible products,serving as a crucial factor in establishing the ideal personality characterized by self-esteem,self-confidence,autonomy,and self-reliance.Furthermore,the integration of broadly defined productive labor and self-education marked by its free,spontaneous,conscious and autonomous nature,constitutes four potential developmental stages even with regularity within the process of shaping an ideal personality.The stage marked by autonomy combined with self-education and broadly defined productive labor,supported by the societal values of equality,inclusion and sharing,and escorted by the social security system,effectively completes a progression from"combination"to"mutual adaptation",then from"mutual adaptation"to"mutual promotion",and from"mutual promotion"to"mutual achievement"ultimately.Once this mutual achievement process has been completed between self-education and broadly defined productive labor for individuals with disabilities,the two become unified into the real life of this group.This represents the intrinsic mechanism behind shaping an ideal personality for individuals with disabilities and realizing their ideal lives.
