Digital Economy Development Empowering the Employment of Persons with Disabilities:Effects and Paths
The employment of persons with disabilities is an important part of the cause of persons with disabilities,but the overall employment rate of persons with disabilities in the labor market has been relatively low for a long time due to the limitation of their own conditions.The development of digital economy is expected to become an important opportunity to solve the employment problem and an empowering way to enhance the employment level of persons with disabilities.To examine the effects of digital economy development on enhancing the employment of persons with disabilities,we constructed a theoretical analytical framework of the digital economy development enhancing the employment of persons with disabilities,and verified the effects of the framework using six waves of provincial panel data collected from 2017 to 2022 with empirical analysis methods,then found that in terms of the effects of promoting employment,digital economy development can effectively enhance the employment level of persons with disabilities;in terms of the paths of mechanism,digital economy development mainly enhances the employment ability of this group to better integrate into the labor market through three paths of mechanism,namely optimizing the industrial structure,enhancing the inclusiveness of the labor market and activating the entrepreneurial energy of persons with disabilities to start their own businesses.Accordingly,we put forward relevant policy recommendations from three aspects:establishing a digital care service system,improving the social security system for those with flexible employment,and increasing the support for those staring their own business.
