New Developmental Trends of the International Paralympic Committee and Recommended Strategies for China
The development of sports for persons with disabilities is of profound significance to ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy the equal rights as normal persons,to facilitate that these persons share the social development achievements,and to advance the development of social inclusion.The recently issued International Paralympic Committee's Charter and International Paralympic Committee Strategic Plan 2023-2026 by the International Paralympic Committee(IPC)provide new guidance and direction for the international advancement of sports cause for individuals with disabilities.This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of these two pivotal documents and examines IPC's emerging developmental trends.Furthermore,by incorporating China's unique context,it presents the following recommended strategies:constructing a novel sport governance pattern with multilateral collaboration and coordination for persons with disabilities;refining mechanisms for safeguarding athletes'rights and interests;systematically bolstering the competitive prowess and domestic influence of athletes with disabilities;vigorously promoting international exchanges and cooperation in this field;harnessing sports as a pivotal vehicle for facilitating the social inclusion of individuals with disabilities.These strategies are aimed at supporting the high-quality development of China's sports cause for persons with disabilities and contributing Chinese insights and wisdom to the global advancement of sports cause for persons with disabilities.
