On the Etymology of"Zhan"("蘸")and the Related Words in Chinese Dialects

摘要
考求"蘸"字及相关语词来源有如下发现:第一,"蘸"来自精母盐韵平声的"渐".第二,某些南方方言中当"浸"讲的词的本字是"渍".第三,绩溪、丹阳、富阳等地当"蘸"讲的词的音韵地位是端母覃韵平声,并且与"霑"有词源上的联系.
Abstract
Examining the origins of the word"Zhan"and the related words leads to the following findings.First,"Zhan"comes from"Jian"("渐").Second,the word which means"to soak"in some southern dialects is"Zi"("渍").Third,the word which means"to dip"in Jixi(绩溪),Danyang(丹阳),Fuyang(富阳)and other places comes from*t^m(the reconstruction of a Chinese ancient Phonology)and is etymologically related to"Zhan"("霑").
