Digital economy development and export resilience:Evidence from prefecture-level cities in China
With the intensification of global economic uncertainty and the increasingly complex geopolitical and economic situation,the resilience of China's export trade faces greater external shocks,and the rapid development of the digital economy will profoundly affect the resilience of cities'export through effectively enabling trade transformation and upgrading.Based on this background,the paper systematically reviews the theoretical mechanism of digital economy affecting export resilience,and empirically tests the effect and mechanism of digital economy development on export resilience of Chinese cities through panel data of prefecture-level cities and differential model.The research shows that the development of digital economy has a significant positive impact on the resilience and recovery of exports,and various robustness tests support the above conclusions.This effect is more prominent in cities with low digital economy development level and low foreign trade dependence.The effect on resistance was more prominent in Midwestern and northern cities,and the effect on recovery was more obvious in eastern and northern cities.In addition,the digital economy improves the export resilience through the influence of technological innovation and trade openness.Among the industrial factors,manufacturing agglomeration has a negative regulatory effect on it,while industrial diversification has a positive regulatory effect on it.Further research shows that the scale of Internet development has a nonlinear effect on the digital economy's export resilience,which is manifested as a double threshold effect.The above conclusions provide theoretical support for improving the export resilience of Chinese cities and accelerating the realization of high-quality trade development.Based on this,suggestions are proposed to increase support for the digital economy and related industries,promote deep integration of digital technology and traditional industries,promote balanced development of various regions in China,and advocate for diversified economic development.
