Digital economy and high quality economic development:Mechanism and spillover effects
Under the new development pattern,China's economy is realizing the transition stage from high-speed growth to high-quality growth, and among the many influencing factors that promote the high-quality development of the regional economy, digital economy is an important engine driving high-quality economic development.Based on the panel data of 30 provincial-level administrative regions in China from2013 to 2020,with digital economy as the core explanatory variable and high-quality economic development as the explanatory variable,a total of 5 control variables, this paper constructs a panel econometric model of 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions(except Tibet,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan)in China from 2013 to 2020,and empirically tests the impact mechanism and spillover effect of digital economy on high-quality economic development by using benchmark regression model, spatial econometric regression model and mediating effect model. The results show that digital economy significantly promotes high-quality economic development, and the digital economy in the eastern region has the best impact on high-quality economic development, and the digital economy in the central region is better than that in the western region.Digital economy has significant spatial correlation and has a positive spillover effect on high-quality economic development,in which the rationalization and upgrading of industrial structure play a partly intermediary role.Further analysis shows that the development of the Internet, the development of informatization and the development of digital transactions have significantly promoted the high-quality development of the economy, while the development of the Internet has taken the lead, and the development of informatization is better than the development of digital transactions. Therefore,it is necessary to continue to promote the development of the digital economy, promote the integration of digital technology and traditional industries, and rationally allocate resources among regions to achieve high-quality economic transformation and development.
