The impact of rural infrastructure on industrial integration
To strengthen the basic position of agriculture , reduce agricultural production costs , and expand farmers ' income channels , the Chinese government has put forward an important concept of rural industry integration .Since the policy was put forward , China has gradually formed four integrated development modes of rural industries , which have made important breakthroughs in agricultural scale management and industrial chain , accelerating the process of rural industrial integration .At present , the integrated development of China ' s rural industries has achieved obvious results , but it still faces constraints in the supply of human resources, capital, technology, and other factors.In real life, it also faces problems such as loose interest linkage , weak industrial driving ability , and insufficient infrastructure guarantee , which need to be further developed and optimized .Combined with the reality of agricultural production , rural infrastructure has an important impact on industrial integration .On the one hand , rural infrastructure has improved rural basic services and living security , and enhanced the attraction of capital and talent , making up for the actual development defects of rural industrial integration .On the other hand , rural infrastructure is conducive to breaking market segmentation and deepening the division of labor and cooperation between industries . Therefore, rural infrastructure is of great significance to industrial integration .However, there is a lack of research on the relationship between the two , including detailed theoretical discussion and scientific quantitative evaluation of the effect .So, can rural infrastructure promote industrial integration?If so, what is the influence mechanism?What are the characteristics of its effects in different infrastructure types and different regions?In addition, can rural infrastructure breakthrough spatial barriers have an impact on industrial integration in other regions?To answer the above questions , this paper reviewed the relevant literatures and summarized the existing achievements from three aspects:the evaluation research on the development level of rural infrastructure , the evaluation research on the development level of rural industrial integration , and the influencing factors of industrial integration .This paper defines the concept of rural industry integration , and discusses the theoretical mechanism between rural industry integration and rural infrastructure from the perspective of basic effect , mediating effect, and spatial effect, and puts forward research hypotheses .Then, using panel data from 30 provinces from 2011 to 2020 in China , this paper constructed the index system of rural infrastructure and rural industry integration and used the entropy method to measure the development level of the two .The two-way fixed effects model is used for basic regression to analyze the effect of rural infrastructure on rural industry integration . Furthermore, the sample areas are divided into eastern , central, and western regions , and the rural infrastructure is divided into economic infrastructure and social infrastructure for heterogeneity analysis .Then, combined with the theoretical analysis framework , the effect of resource allocation efficiency as a mediating variable is tested.Finally, the spatial Durbin model is introduced to test the effect of rural infrastructure on industrial integration between regions .The results are as follows.First, rural infrastructure has a positive effect on industrial integration in China . By region , the positive impact of rural infrastructure on industrial integration is significant in the eastern and western regions , but insignificant in the central region .In terms of the types of rural infrastructure , both economic infrastructure and social infrastructure have significant positive effects on industrial integration , but the promotion effect of economic infrastructure is stronger .However , the promotion effect of the two alone is not as obvious as that of the simultaneous existence .Secondly , rural infrastructure promotes industrial integration by improving the efficiency of resource allocation .The mediating effect is 0.039, accounting for about 10％of the total effect of rural infrastructure on industrial integration .Thirdly, there is an obvious spatial correlation between rural infrastructure and industrial integration in China .Rural infrastructure has a positive effect on industrial integration in the region and a negative effect on surrounding areas .Based on the research conclusions , this paper proposes the following suggestions:First, the government should encourage private investment in public services , speed up the construction of rural economic infrastructure , and the application of innovation in rural life;secondly , rural infrastructure construction should be planned according to local conditions and the government should decide the choice of infrastructure construction priorities and investment channels according to the development status of the eastern , central, and western regions;Thirdly, the efficiency of resource allocation should be improved and the government should give full play to the role of effective markets in promoting resource allocation and actively promote the establishment of a unified national market;finally, inter-regional exchanges and cooperation should be encouraged and the government should strengthen the driving effect of developed rural areas , urban agglomerations , and metropolitan areas , strengthen the assistance to less developed rural areas , and improve the level of rural industrial integration on the whole .
