Research on the measurement,dynamic evolution and influencing factors of digital transformation level in Chinese cities
Urban digital transformation is a crucial requirement for enhancing the level and core competitiveness of cities,as well as an effective approach to improving urban governance.This paper aims to construct an evaluation index system for urban digital transformation in China from economic digital transformation,lifestyle digital transformation,governance digital transformation,and digital transformation infrastructure.Based on a sample of 154 cities in China over the period 2012-2020,the entropy method is used to calculate the level of urban digital transformation.Furthermore,a systematic analysis is conducted on the dynamic evolution trend,source of differences,and influencing factors.The findings reveal that the level of urban digital transformation has been increasing with all sub-dimensions showing an upward trend.Moreover,the development of digital transformation infrastructure and economic digital transformation is the most prominent,followed by governance digital transformation.However,lifestyle digital transformation has a relatively lower level.Further,inter-group differences are the main reason for the differences in the level of digital transformation between cities,and the main sources of the differences in the level of digital transformation in cities is the difference in the foundation of digital transformation.The key influencing factors of China urban digital transformation include public services,emerging industries,intelligent manufacturing,new employment formats,development of labor-intensive industries,e-commerce development level and innovation level.
