How can the digitalization of industry contribute to coordinated regional development?
To a certain extent, industrial digitization can break through spatial and temporal constraints, smooth inter-regional factor flows, and is an important traction force for promoting coordinated regional development.Based on the panel data of 30 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities)in China from 2013 to 2022,we empirically explore the impact and mechanism of industrial digitalization on regional coordinated development. The results show that industrial digitization can significantly promote coordinated regional development, and the promotion effect is more significant in regions with a high degree of optimization of industrial structure,a developed economy and a high level of technological progress. The conclusion still holds after a series of robustness tests. In addition, human capital and environmental regulation can regulate the positive impact of industrial digitalization on regional coordinated development.Meanwhile, under the influence of human capital, environmental regulation and opening up,the role of industrial digitization on the coordinated development of the region is presented as a non-linear characteristic, with a significant threshold feature. The conclusions of the study provide theoretical and practical insights for the government to make full use of industrial digitization and release its dividends in the process of promoting regional coordinated development.
