Han Yu's Prose Tradition and Its Inheritance and Development in the Tang Dynasty
Han Yu,top of the eight ancient prose masters of the Tang and Song dynasties,not only proposed the concepts of Confucian orthodoxy and literary tradition,but also established"popular"and"peculiar"prose styles and traditions with his outstanding creative achievements,bringing huge influence on his disciples and later scholars,and promoting prose theories and creative practice in the coming Song,Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasties.During the period before the mid-Tang and Song dynasties,immediate effects of Han Yu's theory of prose traditions were manifested in the prose creations of Li Ao,Huangfu Shi,Sun Qiao,Liu Zongyuan and Pi Rixiu,among others,as well as their inheritance and development of Han Yu's prose theories and orthodoxy.
