Emotional Venting and Social Role Management of Youths——Based on the Survey of College Students'WeChat Secondary Accounts
Focusing on the phenomenon of college students'using WeChat secondary accounts,it carried out in-depth interviews with 10 college students who possess WeChat secondary accounts to explore how this group seeks new ways for privacy, identity construction, and self-expression through highly prevalent social apps. The findings indicate that the use of WeChat secondary accounts not only reflects college students'countermeasures for"context collapse"and their emotional connection needs in private contexts targeted at others, but also deepens their self-reflection and exploration of self-identity targeted at themselves. It provides individuals with a backstage self-relaxation space and adjusts others'perceptions of themselves through the"instrumentation"of social interaction in private contexts. The use of WeChat secondary accounts by college students can assign new individual meanings to their real selves and social selves, reflecting the creativity and individualized development of social interaction among modern college students.
