Theoretical Construction of Marx's Thought on Popular Sovereignty and Its Contemporary Value
In response to the hypocritical nature of democratic practices in capitalist countries in the 19th century and the people's growing desire for rights,Marx,on the basis of critically absorbing the theoretical ideas of Rousseau,Hegel and others and combining them with the proletarian revolutionary movement, elaborated in depth on the political concept, institutional system and practical strategies for realizing the sovereignty of the people, and explored the theory of sovereignty that truly belongs to the people,on the basis of existing sovereignty doctrines. The theory of people's sovereignty is based on the existing doctrine of sovereignty.Marx's idea of people's sovereignty provides a source of ideas for the dialectical understanding of Western sovereignty theories,a theoretical guide for the innovation of the theory and practice of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics in the new era,and an impetus for the development of contemporary China to strengthen the institutional safeguards for the people's right to be the masters of their own house, and for the people's rights to be more soundly safeguarded by law.
