A Probe into the Phenomenon of"Blending of Philosophical Writings and Literary Works"in the Southern Dynasties-Based on the Investigation of the Text of Jinlouzi
The main purpose of the philosophical writings is to clarify the principles of governing the country and let these principles spread forever. The purpose of literary works is to express thoughts and feelings, and there are great differences between them in writing paradigm. In the late Southern Dynasty, philosophical writings and literary works influenced each other and changed greatly. The politics and arguments in the philosophical writings are reduced and literary qualities are enhanced.Literary works and criticism pursue the permanence of literary reputation and critical spirit. In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, this trend was even more obvious.philosophical writings were included in literary works, miscellaneous discussion and novels became part of philosophical writings, which finally laid the embryonic form of philosophical writings and literary works in The Four Categories.Jinlouzi,as a typical example of the transition period of philosophical writings in the Southern Dynasties, clearly shows the writing style of the blending of philosophical writings and literary works before the establishment of the"Four Categories"classification.Based on this,we can also clarify the historical context and internal logic of the interaction between philosophical writings and literary works, and expound the moistening of philosophical writings spirit to literary criticism.
