A study of social group access differences and problems in metaverse innovation diffusion
The metaverse,as a digital space integrating virtual and real worlds,is rapidly emerging as the new frontier for global innovation and technological development. However, significant disparities exist among different social groups in terms of access to and utilization of metaverse technologies, potentially leading to an uneven distribution of technological benefits and the emergence of new social issues.Through the analysis of relevant literature and cases, this study compares the innovation diffusion of Chinese Internet preorder technologies and takes Rogers'classical theory of innovation diffu-sion as a framework to analyze that the innovation diffusion of metaverse technologies in Chinese society will mainly high-light social problems from three levels:intergenerational digital divide,urban-rural digital divide, and social disorder pattern. These problems include further highlighting the characteristics of generational effects and post-metaphorical cul-ture,breaking the balance between urban and rural digital based on the"post-90s"generation,and breaking and recon-structing the social hierarchy pattern in China characterized by"disembodiment"and"disorder".In response to the a-bove issues, the study suggests that:first, from the technical, policy, and social levels,we should enhance the aware-ness of"aging-friendly"pre-layout of the metaverse to address the hidden dangers of intergenerational digital divide;sec-ond,we should increase infrastructure construction and talent cultivation in rural areas to continuously strengthen the construction of rural digital ecology;third,we should intervene in the new social ecology from the aspects of national,in-stitutional,and theoretical research to help Chinese society better and faster adapt to the new world brought by new tech-nologies.
