Research advances in animal models of ventilator-associated pneumonia
Ventilator-associated pneumonia is one of the major causes of death in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, and its pathophysiological mechanisms and interventions have become a research hotspot for researchers in the field of emergency and criti-cal care medicine in recent years.Due to the influence of various factors in clinical research, several animal models have been devel-oped for ventilator-associated pneumonia in recent decades in China and globally to understand the mechanisms and course of the dis-ease,but none of them can fully display the main pathogenic mechanisms of the disease. Therefore, this article reviews the advances in the models of ventilator-associated pneumonia commonly used in recent years.
