Serving the lifelong learning of the whole people for colleges and universities is an important measure to implement the development strategy of a education power,build a learning society and realize the modernization of education.In the face of the oppor-tunity of digital transformation,colleges and universities serving the lifelong learning of the whole people have ushered in the practical challenge of service function,service mechanism and service mode.It is urgent to take the universality of education,the lifelong nature of education and the sharing of education as the logical starting point for colleges and universities to serve the lifelong learning of the whole people.Combined with the basic functions of teaching,scientific research and social services in colleges and universities,the construction mechanism of different types of education and different forms of education,as well as the open and shared service mode of multiple subjects,this paper explores the practical direction of colleges and universities serving the lifelong learning of the whole peo-ple,and constructs a modern lifelong learning education system for the whole people.
