Design of Multi-span Reinforced Concrete Continuous Arch Bridge
The multi-span reinforced concrete continuous arch bridge is increasingly used in the urban landscape bridges because of its graceful shape.Taking a 22-span reinforced concrete continuous arch bridge in Wujiang District,Suzhou City as the engineering background, its structural modeling essentials, loading features and design thinking are analyzed. At the same time,a comparative analysis is conducted on the working conditions before and after the installation of thrust piers during the construction process of the bridge. The results show that unbalanced thrust is a key factor affecting the design and construction of continuous arch bridge. The thrust piers reasonably installed during the construction can significantly improve the stress and displacement of the main arch structure. The unbalanced thrust of the whole bridge after being completed is mainly born by the abutment, which provides the beneficial reference for the similar reinforced concrete continuous bridge projects.
