Leak Filling,Error Correction,and Fine Analysis:A Review of Paraphrasing Peixi
Peixi is an important philology work in the Five Dynasties and Early Song Dynasty.However,due to differences in content and arrangement compared to An Explication of Written Characters,it has not received its due attention. Professor Zhang Xuecheng's compilation and interpretation of Paraphrasing of Peixi provides a detailed and reasonable interpretation of the book based on a thorough re-compilation of Peixi. Paraphrasing of Peixi has the following three characteristics:first,the selection of good editions for excellent proofreading;secondly,rich explanations and or annotations informed by numerous books as testimony;thirdly,the transformation of the obscure and the difficult into the intelligible and the easy to understand. Paraphrasing of Peixi is of great significance for deeply exploring the linguistic and textual values of Peixi and promoting its popularization.
