Finite Element Analysis of Complex Joints of Steel Roof of A Terminal Building
Design of joints is an important process in steel truss structure analysis. The steel roof of an international airport terminal building is a spatial square tube truss system, and the joints are key parts of the truss structure. The strength and stiffness of the joints directly determine the mechanical properties of the truss system. The key joints of steel roof cover of an international airport terminal building were numerically analyzed by finite element software ABAQUS that takes into consideration geometrical nonlinearity and material nonlinearity.Finite element analysis results show that the bearing capacity of the joints under test loads generally meets the design requirements. For the joints whose bearing capacity does not meet the design requirements, the reasonable setting of stiffening plate can effectively relieve the stress concentration and raise the safety factor of the joint.
