Enhancing Urban Transformation and Upgrading Through Quality Improvement in Transportation:Debrief of the 34th Urban Transportation Development Forum in China
The focus of urban transportation development has shifted from incremental construction to thestage of inventory optimization. Improving the residents' travel quality through optimizing urban transpor-tation facilities is inevitable to adapt to the new era of urban transportation demand and assist in the trans-formation and upgrading of urban development. The 34th Urban Transportation Development Forum was held in Tianjin, China on December 11, 2023, with a theme on enhancing urban transformation and upgrad-ing through quality improvement in transportation. The forum concentrated on the opportunities and chal-lenges faced by urban transportation with the goal of high-quality development, new trends and strategic approaches, development paths, and key measures. Attendees discussed the development strategies of ur-ban transportation in China towards 2035, the experience and path of revitalizing traditional commercial districts, the construction of international consumption center city, and the practical cases of high-quality development and transformation in Tianjin and Guangzhou. They put forward multiple strategies for urban transportation transformation and upgrading, as well as high-quality and livable urban development. The forum was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the China Urban Transportation Development Forum and organized by Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd.
