[Objective]A dairy farm in Hainan Province embarked on a pioneering mission to become the first farm to be declared free from both brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis in the region. The farm underwent comprehensive monitoring and verification from 2020 to 2023 to achieve this status.[Methods]Diagnostic testing followed national standards, namely"Diagnostic Techniques for Animal Brucellosis"(GB/T 18646-2018)and"Diagnostic Techniques for Animal Tuberculosis"(GB/T 18645-2020).Detection and analysis were performed using a combination of the Rose Bengal Plate Test(RBPT),Serum Agglutination Test(SAT),and Bovine Tuberculin PPD Skin Test, among other methods.[Results]Throughout the four-year period,a total of 2,104 brucellosis tests and 2,063 cattle tuberculosis PPD tests were conducted.Of those tested for brucellosis via RBPT,73 cows returned positive results, yielding an average individual positivity rate of 3.5%.Notably,the SAT diagnosis over the same period concluded with a zero positivity rate, indicating the absence of active brucellosis on the farm.Furthermore, the gradual decrease in the RBPT positivity rate from 5.7%to 1.8%exemplifies the substantial progress in eradicating brucellosis.Bovine tuberculosis detection revealed 80 suspected positive responses in PPD tests, but none retested positive after 60 days, ultimately demonstrating a non-existent infection rate.[Conclusion]The comprehensive disease eradication strategy carried out from 2020 to 2023 on the Hainan dairy farm yielded significant results, propelling the farm into a maintenance phase of disease-free status. The establishment of the first dairy farm in Hainan Province free from both brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis is an important milestone and serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the implemented preventive measures.Continued efforts in disease prevention and control will be crucial to safeguard the continued progress and sustainability of the local dairy industry.
