[Objective]In order to give an in-depth discussion on the etiology and pathogenesis, diagnostic approaches, and prevention and treatment strategies for mange in donkeys, improve the diagnostic accuracy and treatment effect,so as to provide effective guidance for scientific prevention and treatment of mange in donkeys.[Methods]Through observation of clinical signs in affected donkeys, skin biopsy and histopathological evaluation,ELISA and PCR method were used to determine the pathogens responsible for mange, and the effectiveness of various drugs and topical acaricides was assessed.[Results]Mange in donkeys is caused by a variety of mite species, showing diverse clinical presentations. The integrated application of multiple diagnostic techniques significantly elevated the accuracy of pathogen detection. Drugs such as avermectins,sulfur-based agents, and selenium sulfide demonstrated substantial efficacy for various species of mites. It was recommended that pharmacological treatment should be complemented with measures of improving environmental hygiene and boosting host immunity and other comprehensive control measures, thereby the spread of mange could be effectively prevented.[Conclusion]The prevention and control strategy of donkey scab requires the comprehensive application of a set of diagnostic techniques, refined treatment plans and comprehensive pest management measures. By in-depth studying the pathogenic mechanism of scab and conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the treatment methods, the effect of preventing and controlling donkey scab can be significantly improved, and provide a solid scientific basis for veterinary practice.
