[Objective]In order to study the expression of ELOVL1,2,4,5,6,and 7 genes in various tissues of Xinjiang brown cattle and to lay a foundation for further mining the functions of ELOVLs.[Methods]The mRNA expression levels of ELOVL1,2,4,5,6,and 7 genes in different tissues of Xinjiang brown cattle was detected by real-time PCR,and the gene structure, phylogenetic relationships, expression status, and multiple sequence alignment of ELOVLs proteins were analyzed by bioinformatics method.[Results]The Motif analysis results showed that there were 10 conserved elements(Motif1—Motif10) in ELOVLs genes, with lengths ranging from 20 to 41 AA. Phylogenetic analysis of ELOVLs in different species showed that the gene family was highly conserved, with Bos taurus,Capra hircus, and Ovis aries clustering more closely. The detection results of mRNA expression showed that ELOVL1,2,4,5,6,and 7 genes were widely expressed in various tissues of Xinjiang brown cattle. Specifically, the mRNA expression level of ELOVL1 in the small intestine was extremely significantly higher than that in other tissues,so was the expression of ELOVL2 in the liver,ELOVL4 in the spleen and ELOVL7 in the kidney, and ELOVL5 and ELOVL6 exhibited high expression levels in adipose tissues.[Conclusion]In summary,ELOVL1,2,4,5,6,and 7 genes were widely expressed in different tissues of Xinjiang brown cattle, among which,ELOVL5,6,and 7 genes were highly expressed in adipose tissues, indication that ELOVL5,6,and 7 genes were related to fatty acid metabolism in Xinjiang brown cattle.
