[Objective]The disease caused by Clostridium perfringens has brought great losses to the healthy development of sheep breeding industry. In order to investigate the prevalence of Clostridium perfringens in sheep in Hami City,so as to carry out targeted prevention and control of the disease.[Methods]Fresh sheep feces were collected from key monitoring sites and large-scale sheep farms in two counties and one district of Hami City, and the infection status of Clostridium perfringens in sheep in Hami was investigated by PCR method. Then morphological and molecular identification of the positive bacteria strains were performed by microscopy,"milk fermentation" test and DNA agarose gel electrophoresis.[Results]The results showed that the total detection rate of Clostridium perfringens in sheep feces was 11.34%. The positive infection rate was different in different regions, and the highest positive rate was 19.04%. Among the 33 positive samples,72.73% were type A strains,27.27% were type D strains, and no type B,C and E strains were found.[Conclusion]In conclusion,Clostridium perfringens infection was widespread in sheep in Hami City, and type A and D strains were the prevalent ones in this area. Certain data support were provided for the diagnosis and control of Clostridium perfringens in Hami City.
